MATERIAL TESTING & SEPARATION TRIALS
Less assumption.
More understanding.
Test your own material before selecting a system. BlakerTech’s in-house trials use full-scale equipment at its West Sussex facility.
Discuss a sample test
WHY TEST?
Make the question
specific to your feed.
For MagThro, the trial can examine non-ferrous recovery from your prepared mixed stream. Look at what enters the recovered fraction and what remains elsewhere.
Particle size, moisture, composition and contamination influence separation. Representative material gives the team a better basis for assessing the process than a generic equipment description.
Agree the question first: reducing a known loss, improving a recovered fraction or investigating a new material stream.
THE TRIAL PROCESS
From a sample
to an informed next step.
The scope and practical arrangements should be agreed with BlakerTech before sending material.
Agree the sample and objectives
Discuss the material, what the test should answer and the sample requirements. BlakerTech typically recommends around 100kg; confirm suitability and shipping arrangements for your trial.
Assess and process
The team assesses the feed and chooses appropriate equipment. Settings may be adjusted during controlled processing to explore the separation.
Measure the fractions
Recovered material and remaining fractions are weighed and recorded to build a performance breakdown.
Review the evidence
BlakerTech provides results and observations, supported by photographs and video. Product samples can be returned where required for further inspection.
BEFORE YOU ARRANGE A TRIAL
Make the sample
tell the right story.
Represent normal operation
Explain where the sample came from, how it was collected and whether it reflects the usual range of material. If some batches behave differently, identify them rather than averaging the difference away.
Describe the existing process
Include preparation steps and the proposed separator location. A sample taken before screening may not describe the feed after screening.
Define the decision
Write down what you need to learn from the trial and what would make an output useful. This keeps the test focused on an operational decision.
Agree practical arrangements
Contact the team before sending anything. Confirm the amount, packaging, material acceptance and delivery details, plus any attendance or sample-return requirements.
VISIT THE TEST FACILITY
